Jose Manuel Carreño: Artistic Director & Past Principal Dancer of American Ballet Theatre in partnership with Robert de Warren, offers the Leading Pre-Professional Intensive Summer Course.

As a very special reward, dancers will participate in the Festival of Stars performing with their master-teachers and guest stars on August 17, 2013. The historic Sarasota Opera House will be the home of this unique program with additional studios at Sarasota Cuban Ballet School. Housing for Students is at the Opera Apartments and at the Hyatt/Regency Sarasota.

The concept on which this unique program is based is to offer the participants an accurate experience of what they will encounter in a professional ballet company.  They begin each day with a full company class, become comfortable working with multiple choreographers in a mix of styles from classical to contemporary, and rehearse with renowned professional dancers.

In the Carreno Dance Festival summer initiative, the Sarasota International Dance Festival presents an exclusive intensive program, distinguished by the unmatched quality of its faculty, by the uniqueness of its approach, and by the significant exposure its students have to leading dance luminaries.

The Festival of Stars is the closing performance of the Carreño Summer Intensive and will take place on the evening of Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Sarasota Opera House.  All dancers considered at a level to participate will take part in a presentation befitting their level of achievement.

The performance will include our traditional Master Class with exciting elements showing each individual dancer’s achievements and covering all the styles learned during the Intensive.  The Sleeping Beauty Suite will be the second part of the presentation.
